The Invisible Grief of Reproductive Loss: A Clinical Framework for Therapists

Some of the most profound grief your clients carry is grief no one has given them permission to name. 1 in 6 couples experience infertility in the United States. Clients who have experienced adverse reproductive outcomes are far more common in caseloads than most clinicians realize. Whether it was a miscarriage, a failed IVF cycle, termination for medical reasons, these losses rarely come with funerals, sympathy cards or social scripts for mourning. Many clinical spaces inadvertently echo that message. This workshop addresses that gap. This workshop follows the clinical path therapists actually walk with these clients: recognizing reproductive loss when it isn't named as grief, assessing its impact, responding in ways that validate without colluding with minimization, applying established grief frameworks, and delivering interventions clients can use.
